Dr. Andrea Mariko Grant, Ph.D.

Andrea Mariko Grant is a social anthropologist with over 10 years experience in academia, exploring the intersections between art, politics, and agency. She has experience in innovation and strategy work for leading tech companies, as well as non-profit consulting on civic education and democratic engagement. Additionally, she acts as a community-engaged curatorial consultant on how to tell “difficult histories” to the public.
Andrea holds a PhD in social anthropology from the University of Oxford, and was a Research Fellow and Lecturer in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge. She is currently affiliated with the University of Victoria where she researches the intergenerational impacts of the racialised uprooting, internment/incarceration, and dispossession of Japanese diasporic (Nikkei) communities during the 1940s.
